Since the 1970s, ILGA World Conferences have brought together LGBTIQ leaders and human rights defenders from across the globe. They have been fundamental events for our activist movement ever since, and are moments to shape our organisation’s work, aims and strategy.
ILGA World is queer democracy in action, and it all starts at an ILGA World Conference. Join us!

LGBTI activists everywhere are experiencing a tidal wave of pushback for their work, in similar and yet unique ways to what is happening to other social justice movements. Even hard-fought advances can quickly be taken away when anti-democratic powers increasingly target us. We will not leave anyone behind: in unity we rise!
The power of solidarity has never been more needed than right now. As we build bridges towards a better future for all, fabricated conflicts among historically allied movements will not prevail. In times of violent opposition, we find ways forward together. In unity we rise!
The ILGA World Conference returns to the African Continent for the first time in 25 years, hosted by organisations led by – and working for – lesbian, trans, and intersex persons. To the increasing targeting of our communities shaking the region, we respond with global solidarity. In unity we rise!
Kwa umoja we rise! is the theme of the 2024 ILGA World Conference. Join us in Cape Town, South Africa!
