Andrea Baldwin (she/her, they/them) is a human rights practitioner that holds an LLB from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and an LLM in Human Rights, Conflict and Justice from the School of African and Oriental Studies - University of London, where she was awarded the Paul Webley Alphawood scholarship for her demonstrable commitment in their activism for the LGBTIQ community. Andrea has organised social development projects, workshops, podcasts and events in Peru as a member of the student-led organisation Siembra - Ius Et Veritas, in collaboration with the UNHCR and with grassroots groups, such as MCC Transformando Lima, AHF Perú, Féminas Perú and Asociación Protección Población Vulnerable (APPV). They were awarded a Distinction on their Master’s thesis, titled “The Inter-American Human Rights System: A Lighthouse Illuminating Intersectionality’s Importance for Human Rights: What can the Inter-American human rights system teach CEDAW regarding the implementation of intersectionality?”. 

Andrea was a Fellow at the Cases Section of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, where she reviewed individual petitions on human rights violations and drafted reports on human rights cases to be presented before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Moreover, they have worked as a teacher assistant in the modules of Public International Law, Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law and Transitional Justice at the Faculty of Law at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. Her research areas are intersectionality, LGBTIQ rights, refugee law, transitional justice and human rights law. They believe that law can be used as a vehicle to achieve social justice and LGBTIQ  liberation. During their free time, they like drinking coffee, painting and watching films.
