This year, we will go yellow and purple with the intersex community!
A group of ILGA World Board and staff members hold the intersex Pride flag.
They all wear the same t-shirt based on the intersex Pride flag - yellow background, showing two hands that hold a purple double unbroken circle.
The t-shirt reads: "Proud intersex ally - Orgullose aliade intersex"
Take a photo or a video of yourself wearing yellow and purple, and send it to [email protected] by the end of Tuesday 26 October. We’ll make a video out of it! You can also hold signs or intersex flags to show solidarity with the intersex community!
This 26 October, on Intersex Awareness Day, wear yellow and purple and tell people why you’re doing it! Help others to learn about the intersex community, and ask friends to go yellow and purple, too!
Post a photo of yourself in yellow and purple on social media. Show the proud intersex ally in you, and post updates with messages in support of intersex persons’ human rights! Use #IAmIntersex if you're an intersex person, or #ProudIntersexAlly!
Use Intersex Awareness Day as an occasion to learn more about what intersex means, and the human rights violations that the community continues to face.Don’t know where to start? Try here:
Get your organisation to affirm the statement that 81 intersex-led civil society groups delivered at the 48th UN Human Rights Council, calling on all States to “…end harmful practices and ban medically unnecessary surgeries, hormonal treatments, and other invasive or irreversible non-vital medical procedures without personal free, prior, full, and informed consent.”
