ILGA World seeks Junior Professional Consultants on Communications for the year 2023.

The main target group for the International Junior Professionals Programme are persons who are at an early stage of their career.
The junior consultancies in the International Junior Professionals Programme replace ILGA World’s internship opportunities that we offered in the past.
As an international programme, any person may apply except those living in Switzerland.
Outline, responsibilities and conditions of the Junior Consultancy position
This is an exciting opportunity to join ILGA World, the global LGBTI membership-based organisation with more than 1,800 member organisations in over 160 countries.
The Junior Professional Consultant will provide assistance to ILGA World’s communications team and will report to Daniele Paletta (Communications Manager) – working in close cooperation with Suelle Anglin (Communications Consultant).
The International Junior Professionals Programme of ILGA World is a great opportunity for somebody who has an interest in human rights and LGBTI issues and wants to gain experience in working for an international human rights organisation that represents LGBTI organisations, communities, and movements on a global stage. They are aimed at LGBTI human rights activists who are at an early stage of their career.
Tasks and requirements for the Junior Consultancy on Communications:
Requirements
- undergraduate or graduate degree in communications, graphic/visual communications design, journalism, or another related field, OR/AND previous experience (including volunteer work) in a communications role
- excellent level of written and spoken English and Spanish, and the ability to accurately translate content from one language to the other
- experience in using the Adobe Suite (especially Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop, Audition, Aftereffect) or similar graphic/sound/video design tools
- ability to work independently and collaboratively to produce strong, compelling, and creative visual content
- proficiency with Microsoft Office. Fluency in using social media for advocacy or organising purposes. Interest in exploring emerging technologies
All candidates should also
- have a particular interest in and commitment to LGBTI/SOGIESC human rights;
- be well organised, motivated, and able to work remotely;
- have a good internet connection while participating in the International Junior Professionals Programme
Desired skills
These skills would be considered an asset:
- a demonstrated interest in keeping oneself updated on LGBTI news from all around the world
- interest and knowledge in how to make communications outputs more accessible to people with disabilities
- basic comprehension skills of other UN languages (French, Arabic, Chinese and/or Russian)
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- produce visual materials (images, videos, infographics, and more) for ILGA World’s social media channels, website, and other communication outputs
- provide timely and accurate English/Spanish and Spanish/English translations of articles, social media posts, and other communication outputs, to help ensure that all ILGA World communications are always published in both languages
- assist the communications team in the planning and development of campaigns - including in the production of audio-visual materials
- assist in summarising large amounts of information for social media content
- produce creative social media specific content (reels, animated videos and more) for ILGA World social media pages
- organise a daily press review to monitor ILGA World’s presence on mainstream media, as well as global LGBTI-related news
- assist the communications team in the preparation of podcast episodes (organising interviews, assisting with audio editing, transcribing the episodes, translating the transcriptions)
Junior Consultancy conditions
- The Junior Consultancy is virtual; no relocation to Geneva is expected or supported by ILGA World
- The Junior Consultancies are six-months long and require a full-time commitment for their duration (37.5 hours/week). Working hours arrangements are flexible
- The Junior Professional Consultant will be expected to work from their current location
- The Junior Professional Consultant will receive a compensation of CHF 750 per month for the duration of the consultancy
- The successful Junior Professional Consultant will have opportunities to work with representatives of LGBTI organisations from around the world and other NGOs virtually and/or in Geneva
- Due recognition in publications and activities which the Junior Professional Consultants have contributed to will be given.

- Answer all questions and written tasks. Read the questions and written tasks carefully and demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria, as this informs the shortlisting process. The shortlisting process is based on an evaluation of each of the sections
- Language. The application pack should be completed in English. Interviews will also be conducted in English (though declared Spanish language skills will be tested)
- Other documents or materials. Do not attach a CV, pictures, or any additional document, as they will not be used. Failure to respect this rule will negatively impact your score.
Process after application

- Late submissions. Please, plan your submission in advance. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
We expect to communicate our decision to shortlist candidates by 23 January 2023, Please bear in mind that, if you have not been contacted after this date, this means that you have not been shortlisted for the position.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a written task that will be sent on 23 January 2023. They will have until 30 January 2023 to deliver the written task.
Interviews to candidates who will be further shortlisted and admitted to the final stage of the selection process are expected to take place between 7-10 February 2023. The interview itself will last approximately 45 minutes.
The selected candidates will be notified around 13 February 2023.
