Our membership has several ways to participate in shaping ILGA World: they can send proposals to introduce the changes you wish to see in the organisation’s governing documents, run for the Board election, send proposals on an issue relevant for the organisation and our global LGBTIQ movement, or submit bids to host our next World Conference.
This practical guide answers all your questions about how and when to get involved with nominations and proposals in the months leading up to the 2022 World Conference, and details how the General Meeting will work once we’ll have gathered at the Conference.

Since the 1970s, ILGA World Conferences have brought together representatives of LGBTIQ organisations from all over the world. They have been fundamental events for our movement ever since.
ILGA World is a queerpreviously used as a derogatory term to refer to LGBT individuals in the English language – and still perceived as offensive by some - queer has been reclaimed by people who identify beyond traditional gender categories and heteronormative social norms. Although not universally accepted, it is often used as a catch-all to include many people within the larger community of people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics. democracy in action. So, it is our time to get involved and exercise each of our member organisation’s voting power to shape the future of our global community!
