On behalf of ILGA World’s Executive Board, we areRead more now pleased to send you this second mailing, with the preliminary agenda of the conference and the various proposals and nominations received from member organisations and the Board. Agenda and programme

The Conference will have an exciting programme led by LGBTI activists from all around the world, with over 100 sessions and 17 pre-conferences over five days. Several other events will be part of our five days in Cape Town, not to mention the soon-to-be-announced social programme curated by our host organisations Iranti and Gender Dynamix, and the inaugural International Pride Awards event!

Our membership will actively shape the future of ILGA World: at the conference, they can get involved in our governance, elect our leadership, have a say on our rules and structure, and collectively chart ways to advance equality worldwide. This year, our membership will also get to vote on our strategic plan for the years ahead!

The business of governing ILGA World will take place in Constitutional, Finance, and Candidate sessions. Follow this link to access the draft agenda of the ILGA World General Meeting!

The provisional full programme of our World Conference is available on the conference website. Start exploring it for a general flavour of what is coming, and register now if you haven’t done so yet – registration will close on 11 October 2024! The programme is still subject to many changes and additions in the coming weeks, and it will be sent in its final form three weeks before the conference with the third mailing.

Proposals and nominations

In our second pre-conference mailing, member organisations receive several important documents, including proposals and nominations to the Board.

Here are the proposals to amend the Constitution and Standing Orders of ILGA World, following the call for proposals of 29 July 2024.

There are amendments submitted by:

ILGA World members now have four weeks to react to these documents and send amendments regarding the proposed changes to the Constitution and Standing Orders to chairingpool (a) ilga (dot) org by 1 October 2024.

If you wish to make amendments to proposals, please follow the instructions provided in the guidelines to submit proposals.

The Constitution and Standing Orders change proposals, and any proposed amendments to these changes, will be then sent to all members in the third and final mailing three weeks before the conference. The proposals and any amendments will be discussed and voted on at the ILGA World Conference in Cape Town from 11 to 15 November 2024.

In Cape Town, ILGA World’s new Strategic Plan 2025-2029 will be discussed and put to a vote. The draft plan has been developed by the Board following consultation with members, staff and other stakeholders throughout the past 12 months.

After circulating the proposed strategic plan for your consideration in the first mailing, we asked for your input on it in a survey: thanks to all the member organisations who shared their views and contributions!

Please find here the latest version of the proposed Strategic Plan 2025-2029 for ILGA World.

As member organisations, you will then be able to propose amendments to the proposed Strategic Plan. The deadline for amendments will be 1 October 2024: to submit any, please fill in this document and send it to chairingpool (a) ilga (dot) org by the deadline.

The ILGA World Board will take your comments and develop the final draft of the Strategic Plan which will be sent with the third pre-conference mailing. There will also be one last opportunity to discuss the draft Strategic Plan during a workshop in Cape Town and make final, hopefully minor changes before the final vote at the conference.

Here are the nominations received for open Board positions —namely two co-Secretaries Generals and the Chairs of the Bisexual, Intersex, Trans, Women, and Youth Committees — as submitted by member organisations following the call for nominations of 29 July 2024. Follow this link to access the nominations received for Board positions.

Note that bids to be the city and host organisation(s) for the 32nd World Conference in 2026 or 2027 will be shared in the third mailing. The deadline to submit bids for the host city and organisation is 1 October 2024.

Fees, votes and proxies

We remind all members that only full member organisations who are up to date with payments of the membership fees are entitled to vote at the conference.

Every full member organisation will have two votes. A full member organisation which is not represented at the General Assembly, and which would otherwise be entitled to vote, may nominate a person or one of the Steering Committees to exercise by proxy the votes to which the organisation is entitled. Read more on proxy votes and voting in sections 5 and 6 of the Standing Orders.

Organisations that are attending the conference must still designate their representatives who will vote on their behalf.

The eligible full members organisations are expected to confirm their voting delegate(s) and assign a voting proxy via the dedicated online form (deadline: 4 November 2024). Detailed information is provided in the form. For any further questions, please get in touch with us at membership (a) ilga (dot) org.
