We are ready to begin the journey towards the ILGA World Conference 2022.
Hosted by our member organisation, the It Gets Better Project, the event will take place from 2 to 6 May 2022 under the banner LGBTIQ youth: future present change. This gathering of ILGA World member organisations and other LGBTIacronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people. Although this is not the acronym available to describe people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics, it is the most commonly used in United Nations spaces and advocacy. activists and allies provides a great space to connect, learn, collaborate, coordinate, discuss and agree on future strategies for our global movement!

At this time, we are only accepting applications for scholarships and proposals for sessions. Registrations for participants who will pay their own way will be open from May 2021: please follow our website and social media channels for any updates!
SCHOLARSHIPS
Apply for a scholarship for the ILGA World Conference 2022!
Scholarships are offered to people who would otherwise be unable to attend the conference due to financial reasons. Only LGBTIacronym for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex people. Although this is not the acronym available to describe people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, and sex characteristics, it is the most commonly used in United Nations spaces and advocacy. human rights defenders and activists (including but not limited to representatives of ILGA member organisations) are eligible to apply.
A full scholarship will cover visa application, processing fees and associated costs, roundtrip flight to Los Angeles, shared accommodation in a double-occupancy room, conference registration fees, medical insurance and a small daily allowance for incidentals.
Partial scholarships will also be available: if you are able to partly fund your participation in the ILGA World Conference 2022, this will allow us to bring more activists to Los Angeles. Only a limited number of partial scholarships will be granted.
The scholarship application must be submitted before 23:59 Central European Time on Sunday 17 January 2021 Wednesday 27 January 2021 (new deadline!). Selected scholars will be informed by the end of May 2021, thus giving successful applicants time to work with ILGA World on securing a visa (if needed). Unsuccessful applicants will then have the chance to seek alternative funding and to register later as a paying participant.

ILGA World will take reasonable measures to ensure that successful scholars are able to attend the conference. However please note that any scholarship granted will always remain conditional due to several factors including but not limited to: the situation of the global Covid-19 pandemic, ILGA World securing funding for scholarships, the applicant being granted a visa to access the United States, the availability of a travel/flights within reasonable cost limits, the ability to get health travel insurance for the scholar, existing or future travel bans by governments, the reasonableness of existing or future vaccine, hygiene and quarantine restrictions. Accordingly, a scholarship may be revoked by ILGA World at any time.
SESSION PROPOSALS

Proposals must suggest a topic, format and presenters for an engaging session.
The deadline to submit a session is Sunday 10 Wednesday 20 January 2021, 23:59 Central European Time (new deadline!). If your proposal is accepted, you will be notified by the end of May 2021.

IMPORTANT: Please note that your proposal being accepted does not mean that you or other presenters will receive financial support from ILGA World to attend the 2022 Conference in Los Angeles. You will still need to pay the conference fee. You should look for funding to support your participation. You and other presenters who would like to attend can also apply for an ILGA World scholarship. If your session proposal is accepted but is unable to go ahead, you must inform ILGA World immediately so that your session slot can be given to somebody else.
