ILGA World Conference 2022 – second mailing

LGBTIQ Youth: Future Present Change ILGA World Conference 2022 – Second mailing

Dear ILGA World member, dear friend,
our World Conference is now only ten weeks away!

On 17 January 2022, we wrote to you with the first mailing.

On behalf of ILGA World’s Executive Board, we are now pleased to send you this second mailing, with the preliminary agenda of the conference and the various proposals and nominations received from member organisations and the Board.

AGENDA AND PROGRAMME

The Conference will have a full programme with over 100 sessions and 17 pre-conferences over five days. Several other exciting pre-conferences and side-events will be part of our  five days in Long Beach, not to mention the soon-to-be-announced social programme curated by the It Gets Better Project, our host organisation!

LGBTIQ activists from all around the world will be leading sessions, and our youth will be front and centre in the whole event.

The business of governing ILGA World will also take place in Constitutional, Finance, and Candidate sessions. Follow this link to access the draft agenda of the ILGA World General Meeting! Our membership has an active part to play in shaping the future of the organisation: the conference is a unique opportunity to get involved in our governance, elect our leadership, have a say on our rules and structure, and collectively chart ways to advance equality worldwide!

To help our membership play an active part in all this process, we have recently released a practical guide to our General Meeting. Make sure to also check out this infographic to keep abreast of upcoming deadlines along the road towards our World Conference!

Beyond the General Meeting, the final detailed programme for the full five days of the conference and pre-conferences will be sent with the final agenda three weeks prior to the conference (the third mailing), but a rough draft can be found here. Although the programme is still subject to many changes in the coming weeks, we hope it will give you a general flavour of what is coming, and encourage you to register for the conference if you haven’t done so yet!

FEES, VOTES AND PROXIES

Members are reminded that only full members who are up to date with payments of the membership fees are entitled to vote at the conference. Every full member organisation will have two votes and may nominate a proxy (if unable to attend the conference). [Standing Order 6.3]

“A full member organisation which is not represented at the Conference, and which would otherwise be entitled to vote may nominate a person attending the Conference or one of the Steering Committees to exercise by proxy the votes to which the organisation is entitled, in accordance with SO6.” [Standing Order 5.1]

You can email your proxies at [email protected]  by using this template.

Organisations that are attending the conference must still designate their representatives who will vote on their behalf. Please use the first part of the Proxy form to designate your representatives who will then vote on behalf of your organisation.
